The Good Shepherd

We are thrilled to share a very special project, "The Good Shepherd" painting, created with the youth and members of the Lakeview 5th Ward. This painting is more than just art; it's a testament to our collective faith and a beautiful representation of our testimonies of Jesus Christ.

Through this painting, we hope to convey that we know He lives and we bear witness to His life, His divine mission, His glorious resurrection, and His eternal divinity. It is a heartfelt expression of the love, peace, and joy that His gospel brings into our lives.

The story behind the painting

The “Good Shepherd” painting project grew from a simple idea: to bring our ward together in a shared expression of faith in Jesus Christ. What began as 120 individual paint-by-number sheets became something far greater as members of all ages each contributed their part—one section at a time.

As the Apostle Paul taught:

“For as the body is one, and hath many members… so also is Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12)

Each person painted one or more pieces, and together those pieces formed a unified whole—just as we, as disciples of Christ, are united in Him. No single section could stand alone; every contribution mattered.

As the painting came together, so did we. What started as individual efforts became a shared testimony—visibly demonstrating how the Savior connects and strengthens us as one.

Now displayed in our building, the finished artwork stands as a reminder of His love, His guidance, and the peace He offers. More than a painting, it represents a collective witness that He lives.

As you view it, take a moment to look closely. Consider the many hands that helped create it—and the one Shepherd who leads us all.
